SMIT releases a new CAM with Irdeto Cloaked CA

May 24, 2013 – SMIT Corporation (“SMIT”), a leading provider of security devices for digital content delivery, releases the industry’s advanced CI+ 1.3 CAM (Conditional Access Module) with Irdeto Cloaked CA, which reduces logistical costs and improves operational efficiency for pay TV operators through its cardless security.

The Irdeto Cardless CAM integrates the latest Irdeto Cloaked CA solution and conforms to Irdeto’s stringent security requirements. This new product allows subscribers to watch encrypted TV programs while ensuring the carrier’s secure transmission, without the need for smart cards. By eliminating the CAM pairing process with a smart card, the operator’s costs are reduced without impacting the user’s viewing experience. Meanwhile, it is fully compatible with the CI+ 1.3 standard and has full backward compatibility. 

"Plustelka", a Slovakia digital terrestrial television service, will be the first pay-TV platform in which the CAM is introduced. Subscribers of "Plustelka" with a DVB-T iDTV can purchase the CAM and immediately enjoy 22 sets of high-quality TV programs including professional sports, music, MOVIEand adult channels without the need for smart cards. "Irdeto Cloaked CA embedded in our new CAM provides operators with a more economical and secure choice, and also brings more convenience to subscribers of digital TV service."
